Steelers score on opening posession

The Pittsburgh Steelers took their opening possession for the touchdown on a 10 play, 65-yard drive. Davenport took the touchdown in from the one-yard line.

Pittsburgh jumped out to early momentum with a Ben Roethlisberger 31-yard pass to Hines Ward. Immediately following that pass, John Henderson sacked Roethlisberger but was called for a 15-yard unnecessary roughness call. Henderson suffered a strained hamstring on that play.

Jacksonville also used their first challenge of the game on that drive. A 7-yard pass to the one-yard line appeared to show Matt Spaeth fumble the ball but was called down by the referees. Jack Del Rio challenged the play but the call was upheld.

The Steelers lead 7-0 with 10:03 left in the first quarter.
