Sky Lounge expands in south endzone

After the Houston Texans game and the Georgia-Florida game, the Sky Lounge has expanded and upgraded to help improve the flow with fans and guests. Last week's game against San Diego was its refreshed debut and it will continue to operate throughout the remainder of the regular season.

The tent has expanded from 50’ x 66’ to 50’ x 132’, making it nearly the entire length of the terrace.

The expanded Sky Lounge now features a few extra TV monitors, more lounge furniture and upscale drapery for a warmer environment.

The expansion also creates more room for corporate parties and sponsors prior to kickoff.

Fortunately, the upgrades have not affected the price of admission. Admission is per person in $15 with two drink tokens included.

Fumble leads to points before halftime

JP Losman sneaked up the middle on third and inches just after the two minute warning fumbling the ball in the pile. Jamaal Fudge recovered the fumble and ran it back 16-yards before being tackled by Buffalo's Robert Royal. A booth review confirmed the fumble but ruled Fudge was down by contact at the Jaguars' 45-yard line resulting in no gain on the fumble recovery.

The fumble led to a Jaguars field goal giving them a 16-0 field goal lead and 6 points off turnovers in the first half alone.

Jaxson watch

Jaxson de Ville didn't repel in from the scoreboard, zip line in across the field or bungee from a light for his entrance today. In honor of Thanksgiving Jaxson helped saved a turkey mascot from a pilgrim at midfield. Jaxson arrived on his four-wheeler and brought the Turkey to safety.

Fourth down fails

Del Rio's commitment to going for it on fourth down didn't work out on their first attempt of the Bills game. Del Rio opted to go for it on fourth and one from the Bills' 41-yard line with a Jones-Drew rushing to the outside. Jones-Drew lost 6-yards giving Buffalo the ball with a 53-yard field.

Also on that drive David Garrard scrambled to the sidelines laying out one of the CSC security personnel. That security guard looks to be ok though walking off the field under his own power.

Halftime entertainment

Fans in the north endzone participated in a special ceremony during halftime at today's game.

During Phil Stacey's (former American Idol contestant) performance of God Bless the USA, fans in the north endzone held up red, white and blue cards to form the American flag.

The performance came after a mass enlistment ceremony during halftime honoring graduates from the five branches of the military. Capping off the ceremony was a flyover by two H-60 Seahawk helicopters.

The ceremony was the climax of today’s military appreciation game hosted by Winn Dixie and the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Today is the first game they have appeared at this season and will attend the remaining home games.

“Many of the younger and older kids who are needy don’t get gifts for Christmas,” said Staff Sergeant Moore. “After we raise the money, we can take them shopping.”

Everything the organization collects stays in the area due to each area having their own collection centers.

The Marines are planning to set up a booth with a Hummer near Georgia Street for the remaining home games this season.

Tomlinson scores first TD for Chargers

Josh Scobee's kickoffs have struggled slightly today but a knuckleball to start the second half went out of bounds at the one. That drew the penalty flag letting San Diego start at their own 40. A 34-yard pass to LaDainian Tomlinson set up a Tomlinson run in the endzone giving the Chargers their first touchdown of the day.

That touchdown drive lasted 5 plays, 60-yards and 1:41. Jacksonville still leads the Chargers 17-10.

Jaguars lead 17-3 at half

At halftime Jacksonville has been controlling the Chargers leading 17-3. The Jaguars are winning the battles statistically in all areas. Jacksonville has rushed for 88-yards to the Chargers' 49. Passing Jacksonville leads 99-90. Jacksonville has doubled the Chargers in first downs though leading 13-3.

In other NFL news, Jaguars fans should be intensely watching the Colts as they have were shut out by the Chiefs right up until halftime. The Colts and Chiefs are now tied 3-3 at the half. If Indianapolis loses and Jacksonville wins, the Jaguars will be tied for first place in the AFC South.

Upper decks win

The 400 level got some love from the lucky section contests. A lucky row was selected in section 410 while the World Grill lucky section was 437. Fans have wondered why the 400 level never seems to win. In fact, the lucky sections are randomly selected and tracked so that they are spread equally across the stadium and no section is selected twice.

Winn Dixie holds food drive

Winn Dixie is holding their 13th annual food drive outside of Jacksonville Municipal Stadium today. The event outside of the stadium is one of the biggest food drives of the year for Winn Dixie.

This year, volunteers at each gate are trying to raise $1 from everyone attending the game. For each dollar raised, Winn Dixie can distribute $53 of food.

“We hope to raise between $50,000 and $60,000 this year,” said Gary Porter. “This year is good so far because some people donate $5 and $20 at a time; we also have more food donated than expected.”

Quinn Gray’s mother and grandmother are some of the players’ family members participating in the drive.

Williams adds TD

The Jaguars have had three possessions so far today and all three have resulted in points. The last touchdown, a 9-play, 73-yard drive, ended with a Reggie Williams reception for 36-yards and the touchdown.

Williams has caught a touchdown pass now in the last two of three games and continues increasing his season high with five total touchdowns now.

Jacksonville now leads 17-3 with 5:19 remaining in the first half.

Challenge leads to Chargers field goal

A 46-yard pass to Chris Chambers that was originally ruled incomplete ended up being the drive changer for the Chargers in the second quarter. After a coach's challenge, it was ruled that Chambers did have possession of the ball giving San Diego the ball on Jacksonville's nine-yard line. A 23-yard field from the five-yard line resulted leaving the Chargers behind by 7, 10-3.

Fourth down results in touchdown

Jack Del Rio went back to fourth down attempts with one on the 11-yard line and another on the one foot line. That 11 play drive went 48-yards and saw Fred Taylor break the Jaguars yards all time yards from scrimmage record. Maurice Jones-Drew capped the drive off with a 1-yard touchdown run putting the Jaguars up 10-0.

The Jones-Drew touchdown gives him at least one rushing touchdown in his last five of seven games this season and 13 of his last 18 games since 2006.

Taylor breaks more records

On second and ten from the Chargers' 20 Fred Taylor ran up the middle for three yards breaking yet another record. This time, Taylor broke the Jaguars' all time yards from scrimmage with 12,286. Previously Jimmy Smith held the record with 12,285 yards.

Scobee, field goals return

A fourth and three from the San Diego 30-yard line would have been a guaranteed fourth down attempt with John Carney kicking. Josh Scobee is back this week though meaning Jack Del Rio opted for the 48-yard field goal attempt by Scobee. So what is the result of Scobee's very first kick back from an injury? A perfect field goal put the Jaguars up 3-0.

Today's pregame entertainment

Today's pregame entertainment featured Jacksonville resident and American Idol contestant Phil Stacey. In 2003, Stacey enlisted in the Navy as a Musician Third Class stationed in Jacksonville. At today's game he sung the National Anthem.

American Veterans Advocate presented the Colors and Margaret Szebra, daughter of a Navy soldier, interpreted the Anthem for the hearing impaired.

An Air Force Flyover was performed by the "Flying Razorbacks" with four A-10's. Jacksonville wins 28-13

At the two-minute warning, Tennessee might have had a chance at the game. Adam Podlesh missed the snap on a Jaguars punt deep in their own territory resulting in Tennessee recovering on the Jaguars' 15-yard line.

The Titans though moved backwards with a false start then a holding penalty. Tennessee finally gets back to the 3-yard line when Vince Young fires towards the goalline where Brian Williams intercepts the pass sealing in the Jaguars' victory.

The Jaguars have won 4 of the last 5 road games now and move to 6-3 on the season. The Jaguars come back to Jacksonville next week to take on the San Diego Chargers.

Leave your comments for Monday Morning Quarterback and then leave your congratulations to Fred Taylor.

Gray scrambles, sets up TD

A Quinn Gray 15-yard run to the outside set-up Greg Jones for a 3-yard touchdown run up the middle. The drive look similar to the Jaguars opening drives against Denver, Kansas City and Houston. 11 plays, 44-yards and 5:46 taken off the clock led the Jaguars to a touchdown and a 28-13 lead.

MMQB opens

With the Jaguars up 21-13 and just over nine minutes remaining in the game it is time to open Monday Morning Quarterback. Voice your opinion on the game for Monday's Times-Union in Monday Morning Quarterback.

Don't forget to also give your congratulations to Fred Taylor that we will deliver to Taylor.

Young hits Gage for TD

As expected, Tennessee has scored a touchdown on the very first possession of the 4th quarter. Vince Young found Justin Gage for a 20-yard touchdown reception putting Tennessee behind by 8, 21-13.

That touchdown gives the Titans 10 unanswered points in the second half against the Jaguars.

4th quarter begins

Heading into the 4th quarter, Tennessee is putting together a nice looking drive coming down the field into Jaguars territory. The Titans look poised to score on this drive but currently the score still stands at 21-6.

Interception leads to TD

Fred Taylor sat out the end of the New Orleans' game last week not wanting to get 10,000 rushing yards on such a bad game for the Jaguars. This week is a different story with Taylor starting the day going over 10,000 yards and in the third quarter adding a 4-yard touchdown run to increase the Jaguars' lead.

The 2 play, 13-yard drive started after a Mike Peterson interception of Vince Young. A defensive pass interference call on the deep ball to Ernest Wilford got the Jaguars to the 4-yard line where Taylor got into the endzone. Jacksonville leads 21-3.

Del Rio tries fake field goal

Jack Del Rio's aggressive play calling may have just cost Jacksonville 3 points. A 41-yard field goal attempt was faked an Adam Podlesh ran the ball for a loss of 2 yards. The Titans take over on downs.

The play could have went either way as Del Rio has expressed concern about Carney's field goal range in the past leading to more fourth down attempts by the Jaguars this season. The fake field goal was most likely called due to Carney's range issues.

The loss of the ball didn't lose much for the Jaguars though as Mike Peterson intercepts Vince Young's pass to Roydell Williams.

Young fumbles

The defensive unit is continuing to show that their first game against the Titans and last week against the Saints isn't who they are. In the third quarter Jacksonville has not allowed any more points by the Titans and was able to recover a fumble by Vince Young on 4th and inches. Jacksonville's Mike Peterson recovers and the Jaguars will take over at their own 46-yard line.

14-3 at halftime

The Jaguars defense has made a comeback holding Tennessee to only a last second field goal in the first half. Going into the locker room Jacksonville leads 14-3. The Titans have 106 yards on the day compared to Jacksonville's 126 but the Titans have only been inside Jaguars' territory once.

What are your thoughts on the game at the halfway point? Leave your comments below.

Taylor is only the 21st player in NFL history to break the 10,000 yard mark.

Tennessee punts; Jaguars begin first drive

On Tennessee's first possession the Jaguars forced them to punt but Vince Young looks to be a big threat to this Jaguars' defense. Young has had 2 rushes for 18 yards on the first possession.

Saints expand lead

Jacksonville managed to keep the score close in the first half despite being statistically beaten in almost every category. The second half though has seen New Orleans start sealing what looks to be a victory against the Jaguars. An early interception return for a touchdown followed by a drive capped off by a Drew Brees 4-yard touchdown pass to David Patten gives the Saints a 38-17 lead.

Saints add to lead

Jacksonville looked to be getting a little momentum going on their opening drive in the second half. A couple penalties slowed that and a 4th down attempt led to an interception by Mike McKenzie returned for a 75-yard touchdown putting the Saints up 31-17.

First half ends with Saints up 24-17

Ending the first half of the game Jacksonville's defense thought they might get a chance as Drew Brees looked to have fumbled the football and Jacksonville recovers. On the booth review though it was decided that Brees' arm was going forward and it is an incomplete pass.

Mare did miss a 43-yard field goal attempt after that review giving the Jaguars 50 seconds to try and make something happen. The first play from scrimmage showed Gray throwing a long bomb to John Broussard that is intercepted by Jason David.

Brees takes the opportunity for another chance and continues to add to his passing yards. Ending the half, Brees has 344 yards and 2 touchdowns but another missed field goal keeps the Jaguars within 7.

Jacksonville needs to come back from halftime with a gameplan to stop Brees' passing game if they want to win the game. The Saints lead at the half 24-17.

Brees over 250-yards passing

Drew Brees already has 268 yards on the day as he adds another touchdown, this time to WR Lance Moore for 8-yards. The Jaguars are staying in the game somehow but statistically are being dominated by the Saints and Brees' passing game.

Saints lead 24-17.

QB Gray injured

The Jaguars' quarterback woes continue against the Saints. Quinn Gray went down after being hit just after throwing the ball. Gray's left ankle was being taped. No word on whether veteran Todd Bouman will play on the Jaguars' next drive yet or not.

Bouman was signed just over a week ago on October 25 to the Jaguars and if needed will come in at quarterback to replace Quinn Gray. Matt Jones sits as the emergency 3rd quarterback if needed.

UPDATE: Official reports say Gray has a sprained ankle but will return to the game.

Spicer forces, recovers fumble

The Jaguars' defense got pressure on Drew Brees for the first time in the game resulting in a Brees fumble recovered by Jacksonville. Paul Spice forced the fumbled and also recovered. A holding penalty on the Saints was declined to allow the Jaguars to take over on their own 21-yard own.

More on Jones-Drew's record return

Maurice Jones-Drew's 100-yard kickoff return for a touchdown is the longest in Jaguars' history and makes Jones-Drew the only Jaguars to have two kickoffs returned for a touchdown.

Previously Alvis Whitted held the record for the longest kickoff return on December 26, 1999 in Tennessee with a 98-yard return.

Saints score; Jones-Drew answers on kickoff

The Jaguars have not been able to get any pressure on Drew Brees and have been struggling in the secondary with tackling. That terrible tackling by the Jaguars on a pass to Billy Miller allowed Miller to go 57-yards down to the 2-yard line. That pass set-up a quick pass to the right setting up a Reggie Bush 2-yard touchdown reception. The Saints go back up 17-10 but Maurice Jones-Drew had other ideas.

On the ensuring kickoff Jones-Drew breaks the record for the longest kickoff return in Jaguars history with a 100-yard kickoff return for a touchdown making the game even again, this time at 17.

Naeole hurt, Carney ties game

Chris Naeole went down late in the first quarter with what initial reports say is a sprained left knee. After the injury a couple plays later John Carney hits a 30-yard field goal to tie the game at 10.

Gray hits 80-yard touchdown

Quinn Gray opens the game up with a quick long bomb touchdown to Reggie Wlliams. After a Taylor run for no gain then a short incomplete pass Quinn Gray found Reggie Williams for an 80-yard touchdown reception. Will Jacksonville try for the onside kick now? Saints lead 10-7.

Saints up 10-0

The onside kick and quick no huddle offense to start the drive pays off for the Saints. Reggie Bush took a 1-yard run right into the endzone to put the Saints up 10-0 halfway through the first quarter. Jacksonville's defense will need to step up their play if the Jaguars want a chance of winning this game.

Saints go up,driving again

The Saints took their opening drive down the field in only 2:45 capped off by a 46-yard field goal by Olindo Mare. Jacksonville's defense allowed the first three plays to result in two first downs before tightening up and stopping the Saints from getting into the endzone. Saints lead 3-0.

On the ensuing kickoff though, the Saints gave Jacksonville a taste of their own medicine kicking on onside kick and recovering it. The Saints then went to a no huddle offense to try and keep Jacksonville on their toes.
