The Saints took their opening drive down the field in only 2:45 capped off by a 46-yard field goal by Olindo Mare. Jacksonville's defense allowed the first three plays to result in two first downs before tightening up and stopping the Saints from getting into the endzone. Saints lead 3-0.
On the ensuing kickoff though, the Saints gave Jacksonville a taste of their own medicine kicking on onside kick and recovering it. The Saints then went to a no huddle offense to try and keep Jacksonville on their toes.
