Jacksonville wins 24-23

The Jaguars came down to the wire in Tampa winning 24-23 against the Buccaneers. Jacksonville relied on the run game throughout the game rushing 44 times for 133-yards while passing only 16 times for 86-yards.

The Jaguars' defense had three interceptions on the day including one returned for a touchdown and one on Tampa's last play of the game.

With the victory against the Buccaneers, the Jaguars advance to 5-2 on the year and travel to New Orleans next weekend to play the Saints.

Read a full recap of the game here.

Leave your comments below or in Monday Morning QB.

Podlesh punts big

Podlesh may have just allowed the Jaguars to retain the lead. Punting from the endzone again, Podlesh boomed his punt 76-yards to the other end of the field with no return. That big punt was the second longest in team history and starts Tampa at their own 17.

Bryan Barker's 83-yard punt against the New York Jets in New York on October 11, 1999 was the longest in team history.

Monday Morning QB Opens

With the Jaguars' leading in the fourth quarter its time to start telling us what you thought about the game for tomorrow's Florida Times-Union in Monday Morning QB.

Leave your thoughts about the game in Monday Morning QB.

Jacksonville regains lead

Jacksonville is able to come back to take a one point lead against the Buccaneers after Quinn Gray lays the ball up to the corner of the end zone to Matt Jones. Jones, who dropped a one handed catch earlier in the game, was able to haul the ball in this time for the touchdown. The score puts Jacksonville back on top 24-23.

Punt blocked

After a Tampa touchdown Jacksonville was held deep in their own territory on a three and out. For the second consecutive time Podlesh punted from in his own endzone and this time had his punt blocked by Maurice Stovall. The ball rolled to the Jaguars' 30 pretty much ensuring Tampa will at least add three more points to the board.

UPDATE: Sure enough, Matt Bryant adds to Tampa's lead with a 42-yard field goal giving Tampa a six point lead, 23-17.

Tampa takes lead back

Tampa Bay gets the lead back for the first time since their first possession of the game's field goal. Michael Bennett takes a 19-yard carry for the touchdown putting the Bucs back on top 20-17.

I'd like to know your thoughts on how the Jaguars' secondary is playing. Garcia has thrown two interceptions against the secondary after not having any all season long. On the other hand, the Bucs are seemingly able to march right down the field with their passing game. What do you think?

Turnover on downs

Nobody can argue the fact that Jack Del Rio has been aggressive on fourth down this season. Earlier in the game LaBrandon Toefield got his first touch of the season on fourth down rushing for a first down.

Once again on fourth down Del Rio goes back to Toefield in the third quarter but this time he was stopped in his tracks by Ronde Barber leaving Jacksonville to turn the ball over on down at the Tampa Bay 40.

First half ends, Jags up 17-13

As the first half ends Jacksonville has concentrated mainly on the rushing game. Jacksonville has rushed 24 times for 81-yards while passing only six times.

The first half saw LaBrandon Toefield activated for the first time of the season and taking five carries for 12-yards. In addition Matt Jones was activated again and has so far only been targeted on one play: A deep pass down the sideline that Jones grabbed one handed but dropped.

Tampa has been able to keep up though with the Jaguars mainly from a three play drive with two passes totaling 76-yards for a touchdown.

The end of the half though did show Tampa being able to put together a drive ending in a 22-yard field goal leaving Tampa behind by four at the end of the half, 17-13. Tampa does get the ball to start the second half.

Garcia answers interception with TD

Jeff Garcia didn't let an interception returned for a touchdown keep him from throwing the ball. Two, an 18-yard pass to Joey Galloway followed by a 58-yard deep pass to Galloway on the very next play gives Tampa a touchdown and puts them behind 17-10.

Garcia throws first interception

On Tampa's first play from scrimmage after the kickoff, Jeff Garcia threw his first interception of the season. A Pass intended for Joey Galloway was intercepted by Aaron Glenn who easily takes it in for a touchdown putting Jacksonville up 17-3.

Gray starts passing

Quinn Gray has only had four passes so far on the day but just hit a big 30-yard pass into the arms of Greg Estandia. That pass got the Jaguars down to Tampa's 27-yard line.

The fourth pass was a high pass to Quinn Gray two plays after that 30-yard reception that went over the head of Maurice Jones-Drew and was almost intercepted.

The four passes Gray has thrown has been enough so far to keep Tampa from shutting down the rushing game. So far Gray's QB rating is a 90.6. Much better than last week's 5.3.

This Jaguars' drive ended with a 41-yard John Carney field goal extending their lead to 10-3.

Jags pass, score TD

No sooner could I publish the last post did Quinn Gray throw a pass: A short over the middle pass to Maurice Jones-Drew ending in a 15-yard gain at the one yard line. That pass setup a Labrandon Toefield one-yard touchdown run putting the Jaguars up 7-3.

Run Jaguars, Run

With Quinn Gray running the Jaguars' offense the running game is Jacksonville's only weapon with 3:50 left in the first quarter. The rushing game has seen Fred Taylor take nine carries for 37-yards, Maurice Jones-Drew having 3 carries for 24-yards and a rusher Jacksonville hasn't seen this season: LaBrandon Toefield taking a fourth down rush for the first down.

Fred Taylor of course is trying for his 10,000 career rushing yards mark which you can read more about in Michael Wright's story, "Taylor nears a magical milestone."

Quinn Gray has yet to throw a pass still which begs the question how long will it take for the Bucs to stop the running game?

Tampa first to score

Tampa gets on the board first today after a Matt Bryant hits a 44-yard field goal capping off an eight play, 29-yard drive. The drive was Tampa's first possession of the game. Jacksonville's first possession ended with a punt at mid-field.

Jags and Bucs underway

The Jaguars are underway in Tampa against the Buccaneers without starting quarterback David Garrard. Quinn Gray makes his first NFL start against Tampa.

Georgia wins 42-30

As expected in the last post Georgia goes on to win the Florida-Georgia game 42-30.

Click here to read a full story from Mark Long.

Florida loses ball, possibly game to GA

A bad snap late in the fourth quarter is recovered by Georgia's Dannell Ellerbe. Tim Tebow took another shot into his bruised right shoulder fighting for the ball. With 1:30 remaining this game looks to be Georgia's win.

Moreno increases lead to 12

Knowshon Moreno comes up with another score against the Gators' bringing the score now to 42-30. With that score Moreno goes to 178-yards on the day.

Georgia is looking promising now to win only their third Florida-Georgia game since 1990. Florida is very capable of making a comeback but with Tim Tebow not at his best with his bruised right shoulder their hopes are quickly diminishing.

Tebow scores second rushing TD

Tim Tebow rushes for his second touchdown of the day, bruised shoulder and all. After the touchdown rush, Florida tries for the two-point conversion looking to bring them within three of Georgia. The conversion fails leaving Florida down five 35-30.

Georga adds to lead

A failed fourth down attempt by Florida led to a Georgia touchdown in the fourth quarter. Matthew Stafford comes up with a big play for the Bulldogs' offense as he throws a deep ball to Mikey Henderson for a touchdown putting Georgia up by 11, 35-24.

Florida may have an answer to that though as Brandon James' returns the kickoff 51-yards.

Tebow sacked for 5th time

Tebow was just sacked for the fifth time of the day, this time by Marcus Howard. According to the tv commentators that fifth sack equals them amount of times Tebow had been downed behind the line of scrimmage over the past seven games.

Two more scores, Georgia still leads

Two more scores in the third quarter bring the score to . First on Georgia's first possession of the half Matthew Stafford throws a 1-yard pass to Brannan Southerland for a 1-yard touchdown bringing the score the 28-17.

The next drive, QB Tim Tebow gets back into the game with some rushing as Tebow scores on a 2-yard touchdown run. That run brings the score to 28-24.

Georgia leads at the half

A game that usually is a guaranteed Florida win has been a back and forth game of scoring between the Gators and Bulldogs.

Over 100-yards of penalties stand out in the first half stats as unsportsmanlike conduct calls for excessive celebration have been a mainstay throughout the game.

A late Georgia touchdown in the 2nd quarter gives Georgia the lead going into halftime 21-17.

Give your first half comments, rants and raves in the comments section below.

Florida takes first lead

A 43-yard field goal by Florida's Joey Ijjas after a 7 play, 35-yard drive gives Florida their first lead of the day, 17-14. Sorry to disappoint but no unsportsmanlike penalty on that field goal though.

Gators' punt leads to Gators' TD

Florida punts to start the second half and places the punt perfectly at the Georgia one-yard line. Georgia QB Mathew Stafford threw his first pass from scrimmage into the air right into the hands of the awaiting Wondy Pierre-Louis who takes it back for a touchdown.

Think the penalties are ending now? Nope, another touchdown and another unsportsmanlike conduct call. Florida and Georgia are tied again at 14.

Total penalties?

How many total penalties will be assessed during today's game? With 3:00 remaining in the first quarter there have already been six penalties in the game including two 30-yard penalties at once against Georgia.

Leave how many you think there will be total for the game in the comments below.

Scoring continues

If anyone here in Jacksonville took the Sawgrass Marriott up on their offer of a room for the rate of the score total you may be wanting to reconsider if the game keeps going at this rate. After a big Florida touchdown pass, Georgia takes their second play from scrimmage for a 84-yard touchdown pass to Mohamed Massaquoi.

And add another unsportsmanlike conduct call for Massaquoi's celebration after the TD.

Florida answers

Georgia celebrated their outright lead but Florida answers quickly with a quick drive as well. 3 plays, capped off by a 40-yard touchdown pass from Tim Tebow to Louis Murphy. No unsportsmanlike conduct calls after that TD though. The game is tied up at 7 now with 4:39 left in the first quarter.

Georgia scores 7, loses 30-yards

The fumble mentioned in my last post allowed for a quick Georgia touchdown after 9 plays and 39-yards. Knowshon Moreno jumped over the pile to cross the plane.

You can tell there is heart and excitement in this year's game. After that touchdown Georgia gave new meaning to excessive celebration. The entire Georgia bench ran on the field to celebrate the touchdown causing two unsportsmanlike conduct penalties equaling 30-yards to be enforced on the kickoff.

Then after the extra point attempt the Florida bench decided to get psyched up and started riling each other up on the bench.

Florida fumbles first possession

Not more than five minutes into the game, Georgia's Roderick Battle forces a fumble on Florida's first possession of the game. CB Asher Allen recovered giving Georgia great field position to start their first possession.

Colts add TD; crowd silent

The Colts are just adding insult to injury now as Manning connected with Dallas Clark to give the Colts a 29-7 lead.

The crowd that was recorded at 106dB volume in the beginning of the game has diminished in size and has basically silenced.

2nd Gray interception

With 10:48 left in the game Quinn Gray's pass intended for John Broussard was intercepted by the Colts' Kelvin Hayden. With that interception the mass exodus was seen of teal starting to head for the exits…

Colts tack on another field goal

The game is looking all but lost for the Jaguars with 13:34 remaining and the Colts adding a 20-yard Adam Vinatieri field goal. The Colts now lead 22-7.

Colts playing it "Safe"

Quinn Gray was sacked for a safety late in the third quarter adding to the Colts' lead. The Colts are now up 19-7. Quinn Gray started the second half after a David Garrard sprained his ankle in the first half. Garrard tried to play the end of the first half but is on the bench again in the second.

Jacksonville scores TD

Jacksonville got on the board on their first possession of the second half with a Maurice Jones-Drew one-yard touchdown. The ruling was challenged by Tony Dungy and the Colts but the touchdown was upheld putting the Jaguars' behind by ten with 17-7.

Colts add three

The Colts have taken over the first half of play on national television with another score. This time Adam Vinatieri hits a 36-yard field goal to put the Colts up 17-0 with 29-seconds remaining in the first half.

Colts score again; Garrard back in

After David Garrard's injury and Quinn Gray's subsequent interception the Colts have put another touchdown on the board on a Peyton Manning 1-yard quarterback sneak. The drive was 11 plays and 81-yards started on the Quinn Gray interception. Matt Jones was listed as inactive before the game started as the third quarterback and has dressed sicne Garrard was injured. After the Colts' touchdown though Garrard has came back onto the field to take over as quarterback once again.

Garrard sprains ankle

David Garrard headed to the locker room after being sacked in the second quarter. Word is he has a sprained ankle and is being re-taped. I'll keep you posted.

Quinn Gray is playing at quarterback now and on his second play, a deep pass to Dennis Northcutt was intercepted by Bob Sanders.

Colts on board first

The Colts' are first on the board with a Kenton Keith 3-yard touchdown run on the Colts' third possession of the game.  The Colts' drive started after a 4th and 3 on the Colts' 34-yard line failed.  The touchdown also wrapped up the first quarter of play with the Colts up 7-0.

Monday night mood

Setting the mood for tonight's game, the stadium is a sea of teal and white shirts with white foam sticks shaking in the air. Searchlights surround the stadium and the only empty seats I can see are those being constructed for Florida-Georgia on Saturday.

The national anthem was performed by Michelle Miller of Jacksonville and was signed by ROAR cheerleader Courtney Brown. A large flag was presented across the field by Airmen from Tyndall Air Force Base.

The Jaguars entered the field to a display of pyrotechnics and a ring of fire surrounding the tunnel entrance. The Colts' won the coin toss with a heads call and elected to receive.

Look for photos from tailgating coming online in the next few minutes.

All Teal or something else?

As most of you have heard already the Jaguars' front office has been telling fans to wear teal to Jacksonville Municipal Stadium Monday evening for the Jaguars-Colts game. Some players though have been telling fans to wear black colors to the game to match the black uniforms the team will be wearing.

An official press release came out today asking for fans to carry on the tradition started last year with "All Day, All Night, All Teal." I want to know what colors you will be wearing to the game? Will you be in teal, black, gold, pink? Vote in the poll below and leave your comments below.

What color will you wear to the game?

Jones-Drew breaks out

Maurice Jones-Drew. His number was called again as the Jaguars were just trying to run down the clock and drive down the field. Jones-Drew breaks out for a 57-yard touchdown run somersaulting into the endzone. That rush is Jones-Drew’s longest career rush and gives the Jaguars’ 245-yards combined rushing on the game. That rush also put Jones-Drew over 100-yards on the ground with 125 for the day and 184-yards total rushing and receiving.

That touchdown puts the Jaguars' up 37-9.

Fumble recovery leads to TD

The Jaguars’ defense made their statement to Houston halfway through the 4th quarter. Paul Spicer was bringing Matt Schaub down for a sack when Schaub fumbled the ball. Daryl Smith picked up the ball at the 23-yard line and ran it 77-yards the other way to put the Jaguars up 30-9 after the extra point.

It has been a long time since the crowd in this stadium has been this loud in the fourth quarter. Generating even more applause when the flags are ran across the field after a Jaguars' score one member of the Navy unit involve din the pregame flyover ran the flag across the field. His return to the south endzone was greeted by a roar of applause from the fans.

And about the flyover, apparently there were two jets flying towards the stadium when one peeled off before flying over.

UPDATE: After speaking to one of the members of the flyover the second jet peeled off because it was not able to get in formation in time and therefore had to peel off.

Jones-Drew runs in

Maurice Jones-Drew. It seems like his name is always being called throughout the game. Jones-Drew caps off an eight play, 78-yard drive with a 7-yard run for the touchdown by Jones-Drew. The extra point this time is not blocked so Jacksonville goes up 23-9.

MMQB/Frenette Files open

With the 4th quarter beginning and Jacksonville up 16-6 its time to open Monday Morning Quarterback and Gene Frenette's "The Frenette Files"

Leave your thoughts on the game to possibly be published in Monday's Times-Union in Monday Morning Quarterback.

Have questions for Gene Frenette? Leave them as a comment in his Frenette Files blog and he'll answer them after the game.

Greg Jones beats personal best

Greg Jones had a 27-yard reception as time expired in the third quarter bringing the Jaguars’ to the Texans’ 17. That 27-yard catch is Jones’ longest career reception.

Final update: Draft beer sales

At each home games this season I have been following section 431/432 not having draft beer available at the Andrew Jackson BBQ. Thanks to Thomas Anastasia of Ovations Food Services I have complete clarification now.

The stadium has seen a decrease in overall draft beer sales over the past few years so in sections 431 at the BBQ and 414 (Stadium Classics) on the west side of the stadium draft is not being served as a test market. In both sections draft is available on carts just outside the concessions. Thanks again to Thomas for clearing that up and if you have any other gameday questions or concerns e-mail them to jags@jacksonville.com or leave a comment on this blog.

Field goal brings Houston within 7

A Houston punt that landed on a Jaguars’ player and then was scooped up by Houston led to another Houston field goal. Although Houston has made it deep into Jacksonville territory on several occasions they have been held to only a field goal or zero points on each possession. The latest drive into Jaguars’ territory resulted in a 33-yard field goal by Kris Brown.

Fans show up for Texans

Although there are still plenty of empty seats around the stadium this game by far has more fans at the game than any other game has so far this season. Less tickets were distributed than other games (63,715) but even though attendance is no longer announced it seems as though more of the fans with tickets did show up at the game than usual. Not only are the fans at the game but they are making noise as well.

Now my question for the fans is whether or not there will be any teal seats showing at all for the Monday Night game against Indianapolis?

Opening drive increases Jag lead

The Jaguars' opening drive in the second half looked like the Jaguars' opening drives in the past two games. The team mothodically marched down the field slowly but steadily taking time off the clock and picking up first downs. 14 plays later David Garrard found Reggie Williams in the end zone for a touchdown. The extra point attempt was blocked but the Jaguars still lead 16-6.

With the extra point being blocked do you think if Jacksonville scores another touchdown they will go for the two-point conversion? Give your answer and reasons in the comments below.

Sky Lounge welcomes fans

The Sky Lounge is a new edition to the Jaguar gameday experience for fans wanting to escape the heat and crowds in the stadium.

It rests over the Budzone in the South endzone and is accessible from the balcony. Although originally free at the start of the season, admission to the Sky Lounge is now $15 including two drink tokens per admission; additional drink tokens are $7.50.

Once inside the Sky Lounge tent, fans can enjoy a pool table, foosball, a wet bar, and widescreen TVs to watch the game. Those not wanting to go inside are still welcome to enjoy the game from outside the lounge with tables, chairs and plenty of balcony space available.

Last year, the tent rested outside of the stadium and hosted corporate parties only. Given a new location and a new name this year, the Sky Lounge is open three hours before kickoff for corporate use but is open to the public for the game.

The lounge will not be available for the Monday night showdown versus Indianapolis, but is open for every other home game this season and even plans to expand its size for the November 18 game against San Diego.

Ryan Reaves/Jacksonville.com

Halftime begins; Jacksonville leads 10-6

At the end of the first half Jacksonville has managed to come back form a 6-0 deficit to lead 10-6. An onside kick attempt after the Jaguars first touchdown gave the Jaguars’ a chance to add a field goal to the score making up for a missed field goal earlier in the game. Turnovers have hurt the Jaguars though with two forced fumbles on WR Reggie Williams stopping two Jaguars’ drives and leading to 3 Texans points.

Leave your comments on the first half of the game in the comments below.

Field goals puts Jaguars up 10-6

After recovering the onside kick the Jaguars’ were able to drive close enough for a 36-yard field goal by John Carney. That field goal gives the Jaguars a 10-6 lead with 59 seconds remaining in the first half.

Jaguars recover onside kick attempt

Does Jack Del Rio want to get fans in the stands by calling different plays? In a move reminiscent of watching a high school game, the Jaguars went for an onside kick attempt with 3:51 remaining in the first half. John Carney was able to recover the onside kick giving Jacksonville a drive starting at the Jaguars’ 41.

Jaxson scores crowd points; Wrightster scores game points

As the Jaguars drive deep into Houston territory for the first time of the day, Jaxson de Ville got in on the game action. Garrard threw a pass to the northeast corner of the endzone but the pass was overthrown out of bounds. Have no fear though as Jaxson de Ville catches the ball out of bounds to a roar of applause from the stadium crowd.

In legal game play though Garrard quarterback sneaks a 4th and 1 from the 8-yard line setting up a Jaguars’ touchdown pass to George Wrightster putting them up 7-6. The pass was originally called offensive pass interference but upon further discussion the officials decided there was no pass interference and the touchdown stands.

UPDATE: With the touchdown pass to George Wrightster David Garrard has now thrown a touchdown pass in eight consecutive games. Mark Brunell accomplished this twice in his career with the Jaguars and Byron Leftwich accomplished it once.

Another fumble stops Jags

After the Jaguars looked to be putting a drive together on offense another fumble stops them in their tracks. Again a pass play to Reggie Williams was complete but then C.C. Brown forced the fumble and was recovered by the Texans’ DeMarcus Faggins. Jacksonville has only made it onto Houston’s side of the field once so far today.

That fumble led to a Houston field goal six plays later putting the Texans up 6-0.

Taylor reaches 12,000

Fred Taylor looked like the Fred Taylor from years ago on his 76-yard rush on the second play of the game. That 76-yard run though meant more than just a long play to Taylor and the Jaguars. Taylor reached 12,000 yards on that rush joining only one other Jaguar to achieve that amount. WR Jimmy Smith is the other Jaguar to have 12,000 yards.

The Jaguars’ challenge win stopped Houston from scoring a touchdown on that drive but did not lead to any Jacksonville points. Fred Bennett forced a fumble after a Reggie Williams’ catch giving Houston the ball back. Houston wasn’t able to do anything with their possession though going three and out thanks in part to a 10-yard sack by Terry Cousin.

Challenge pays off

After Houston had another quick drive down the field Houston looked to have a 10-yard touchdown pass to Andre Davis. On the challenge by Jacksonville, the ruling was reversed because Davis fumbled the ball before crossing the plane of the goal line. The ball went out of bounds in the endzone leading to a Jacksonville touchback.

Del Rio threw the challenge flag at least 10 yards on to the field after the replay was shown to the fans.

Extra seating stays

Jacksonville Municipal Stadium has some big games this season such as the River City Showdown two weeks ago, the Florida/Georgia game on October 27th plus the Gator Bowl on New Years Day. Those three games all require extra seating capacity for the stadium. With FSU/Alabama and Florida/Georgia one month from each other the stadium has opted to not remove all the temporary seating. Two sections of temporary seating still exist in the south end zone of the stadium in preparation for Florida/Georgia.

Taylor breaks out

Not only is Fred Taylor dressed and playing today but on the Jaguars’ second play of the game Taylor broke up the middle for a 76-yard rush before being caught by CB Fred Bennett. That 76-yard rush ties Taylor’s second longest career rush. That rush set the Jaguars’ up for a 27-yard field goal. A facemask on Maurice Williams though pushed that field goal attempt to a 42-yard try that Carney missed wide right. With just over seven minutes in the first quarter the Jaguars are down 3-0.

Fans still searching for deals; dealers limited

The Texans game today is the second straight Jaguars’ home game to be blacked out this season. Usually there is an abundant resource of tickets being sold outside the stadium for less than face value cost but not a lot of buyers purchasing the tickets.

With a second blackout the ticket sales outside the stadium have shifted gears. Today the number of ticket sellers has diminished with those left were selling for face value or higher.

Lines were 3-4 deep at the ticket offices around the stadium but an overwhelming number of fans were still seen searching for gameday ticket deals.

With the Jaguars’ having one of the lowest prices in the league for ticket prices what are your reasons for not attending the games?

What do you do during the blackouts? Do you try to come to the stadium and purchase tickets cheap or do you just watch another game on TV? Leave your thoughts on the blackouts and ticket prices in the comments below.

Jaguars dominate Chiefs, 17-7

The Jaguars’ dominated all aspects of the game in their battle against Kansas City at Arrowhead Stadium today. The Jaguars’ defense came within one play of their first shut out on the season and their first road shut out in franchise history. The Jaguars win the game, 17-7.

With the win today, the Jaguars’ move to 3-1 on the season and come back home next week to play the Houston Texans.

Post your comments and grades for the Jaguars’ in the comments below.

Nelson gets first turnover

Reggie Nelson gets the first turnover of the game as he picks Damon Huard’s pass. Huard was injured on the play but was able to walk off the field under his own power. It looks as though backup Brodie Croyle will start the next drive for the Chiefs.

Update: Huard has a shoulder contusion and won't return to the game.

Northcutt caps drive with TD

A 40-yard pass to Dennis Northcutt allowed the Jaguars the chance to set-up a 3-yard touchdown pass to none other than Northcutt.

That touchdown puts the Jaguars up 17-0 and puts the Chiefs in a tough hole to dig out of with only 8:26 remaining in the game.

That score has brought Arrowhead Stadium to almost a silence.

Third quarter ends

The Jaguars’ offense slowed down a little in the third quarter but the punting unit led by P Adam Podlesh kept the Chiefs starting deep in their own territory. At the end of the third the Jaguars are still up 10-0.

Punting unit boosts special teams

After I just gave the Jaguars’ a "C" for special teams at the end of the first half Adam Podlesh and the punt unit has proved me wrong. The Chiefs forced the Jaguars’ into their first punt of the game and Podlesh’s punt came down right into the arms of RB Montell Owens standing on the Chiefs’ own 3-yard line. If you have to punt the ball that is certainly the outcome you want to see.

Jaguars lead 10-0 at the half

Moving into the second half the Jaguars have dominated the game clock, as they did two weeks ago against Denver, giving them a 10-0 lead. The Jaguars have 111-yards rushing total with 72 from Maurice Jones-Drew. The Chiefs have 120-yards total yards.

A missed field goal by John Carney still has the game within reach for the Chiefs but the Jaguars’ do get the ball first in the second half.

The only problem so far for the Jaguars’ team has been the false start penalties being caused from crowd noise. The Jaguars have committed three false starts in the first half alone. If the Chiefs get one score that crowd noise is going to increase dramatically and the false starts could be a much bigger problem in the second half.

My grades:
Offense: B, controlling the clock and keeping the run game. Just need to work on the false starts.
Defense: A-, looks like the secondary is still having some problems against the Chiefs but should improve in the second half.
Special teams: C, not much special teams play to even look at. Carney does have a missed field goal though.

Post your first half grades in the comments below.

Carney's first missed field goal

John Carney has been perfect since taking over for Josh Scobee in week two. Unfortunately perfect doesn’t always hold true. Carney missed a 48-yard field goal in the second quarter. That missed field goal evens the Jaguars and Chiefs up with one missed field goal each.

Jones-Drew plows 52-yards

Maurice Jones-Drew has got to be one of the most exciting players to watch. On the Jaguars’ first possession he was bouncing all over the place making plays happen for first downs. On the Jaguars’ second drive though Maurice put on the afterburners beating everyone on the Kansas City defense with a 52-yard run for a touchdown.

That run was only the second rushing touchdown by the Jaguars this season and put the Jaguars’ up 10-0 on the Chiefs.

Long drive leads to 3-0 lead

Although David Garrard was sacked twice the Jaguars are doing what worked best against Denver two weeks ago: Establish the run game and control time of possession. The Jaguars set up a long grinding drive against the Chiefs taking over ten minutes off the game clock leading to a short 20-yard field goal to give the Jaguars’ a 3-0 lead ending the first quarter.

Chiefs come out passing strong

A quick firing opening drive by the Kansas City Chiefs seems to have caught the Jaguars secondary unit off guard. The first play from scrimmage QB Damon Huard found Kris Wilson for 30-yards then immediately finds Tony Gonzalez on a 17-yard pass. Three plays later another 15-yard pass to Samie Parker brings the Chiefs to the 12-yard line.

After driving 62-yards on only three plays the Kansas City Chiefs were sure to go up 3-0 early but a failed field goal attempt by Dave Rayner leaves the Chiefs with nothing.

If the Jaguars’ secondary continues to allow fifteen plus yard passes consistently it will be a long day in Arrowhead.
